Geology 409 / 509: Unsaturated Zone

We discuss and demonstrate common tools for measurement of moisture and tension in the unsaturated zone, including tensiometers, TDR, and neutron logging. The Guelph permeameter and tension infiltrometer are used to determine K. We demonstrate suction lysimeters as a method of water sampling in the unsaturated zone.
