German Mora Research Team

Jin Zhang, Ph. D. candidate. Jin is interested in the effect of global warming on carbon storage in terrestrial ecosystem. She is collecting soil samples to access the respiration rate of soil organic matter, using naturally occurring 13C signature.

Humberto Carvjal-Ortiz, M.Sc. candidate. Humberto's current research is focused on the assesment of perturbations in past carbon cycle dynamics using stable isotopes of carbon and geochemical biomarkers recorded in rocks from the South American tropics for the Paleocene- Eocene time span. In addition, he is also interested in see how the findings of such perturbations will allow the correlation of marine and terrestrial sequences.
