Gilbert Middle School takes Iowa Science Olympiad rocks & minerals event

A team from Gilbert Middle School handily won the rocks & minerals event in the Middle School Division at the Iowa Science Olympiad, held in Ames on March 1. To honor their achievement, the ISU geology department awarded the Gilbert team of Puneet Anantharam and Chris Culek nice samples of galena and pyrite. Mineral samples were also awarded to the High School Division winners from Cedar Rapids Washington High School.  Congratulations to all the winners and good luck in next year's competition!
