Geology 409 / 509: Field Trips
Field Trips are a regular part of Geology 409/509. They provide a break from the intense field activities in the course, and also provide an opportunity to integrate concepts presented in the course within field situations. The following trips were taken in 1999:

Examine Agricultural Drainage Wells (ADW's) and the Confined Animal Feeding Operations (CAFO's) in north-central Iowa.

Discuss the concept of Aquifer Storage and Recovery (ASR) with Ted Corrigan of the Des Moines Water Works and tour the pilot plant in Ankeny, Iowa.

Stream sampling with the USGS - Iowa District at the NAWQA site on the Iowa River.
Plus an optional 2-day overnight trip to northeastern Iowa
