Alumni Days Celebration

Carl F. Vondra Geology Field Station, Shell, Wyoming
July 2 – 4, 2011

The Iowa State University Department of Geological and Atmospheric Sciences invites you to a gathering at the Carl F. Vondra Geology Field Station on July 2-4, 2011. Join us to relax and share memories with fellow alumni, faculty, staff, family members, and friends at the foot of the beautiful Big Horn Mountains. As with our previous reunions in 2002 and 2007, we’ve scheduled a host of exciting activities. Particularly special this year will be the opportunity to showcase and dedicate our new main building. Put into operation last summer, this facility has truly transformed the camp experience. You will not want to miss it.

Below you will find links to the schedule, registration form, and lodging information. As you will see, many of the activities and meals are free! (Although donations to help defray the cost of meals will be accepted.) You may send us the registration form by mail or e-mail, or call-in your reservation to DeAnn Frisk (see reistration form). Responses by March 31st would be greatly appreciated. Spaces on the rafting trip cannot be guaranteed after this date.

As in the past, we can provide overnight accommodations to a significant number of people at camp, either in bunks or camping (bunks are first-come, first-served). On the other hand, if you plan to stay in a motel, you will want to make your reservation as soon as possible, as our event coincides with the peak of tourist season. We do have some rooms set aside for our group at the Yellowstone Motel in Greybull, but the number is limited.

Please note that the reunion officially kicks off with registration on the morning of Saturday, July 2. We can accommodate those of you who wish to stay at camp the night before. However, since the students will have just left camp the day before, we’ll still be pretty busy getting everything set up for the reunion. In particular, there will be no organized activities on Friday and we cannot provide any meals prior to lunch on Saturday.

Please contact DeAnn Frisk (dfrisk@iastate.edu ; 515-294-4477) or Jane Dawson (jpdawson@iastate.edu; 515-294-6302) for additional information.

We look forward to seeing you there.
