This summer, don't miss your one opportunity to study some of the most spectacular textbook examples of geologic and paleontologic features in the world with friendly staff in a setting that assures you of one of the best academic learning experiences of your life.

The Iowa State University/University of Nebraska-Lincoln geology field camp focuses on applied geology and will help you compete for jobs in the real world or for positions in geology graduate programs! Our welcoming environment encourages learning in a positive atmosphere. We have guest instructors from both the petroleum and environmental industries who give up-to-date information on how to get jobs as well as academic and state government instructors with a combined 50 years of teaching experience.

Field camp is the best opportunity you'll have to be immersed in geology, to learn how to interpret the rock and fossil record, to "see" in three dimensions, to learn how to make maps, read maps, and evaluate the data used to make maps. Students enter our program knowing some geology - they leave it with a real understanding of the practicaly applications of geologic knowledge.

The Geology Field Camp is held at the Carl F. Vondra Geology Field Station in the beautiful Bighorn Basin, nestled up against the magnificent Bighorn Mountains!

Scholarships

Field camp attendees who are not students of either Iowa State University or the University of Nebraska-Lincoln may apply for several academic-based scholarships of $200-300. Applications should include:

1. A brief statement (~250-300 words) explaining your background and career goals.

2. Transcripts of your grades. Photocopies or other unofficial copies are sufficient. These should cover the bulk of your academic background but need not be exhaustive. In other words, you do not need to track down every last credit you've taken at every institution.

3. Names and phone numbers of two faculty references.

Hard copies can be mailed to:
